How we hire and train our cleaners

Three Fresh Quarter cleaners arriving at a terraced house

The question behind every first booking is the same: who is coming into my house? Fair question. Here is the answer.

Employed, not gig

Everyone who cleans for Fresh Quarter is on our payroll, with proper pay, paid holiday and sick leave. Nobody is bidding for your job on an app, and nobody is paid less for taking longer to do it properly.

Before anyone starts

  • An interview in person, with a manager, not a form
  • Two references, both called
  • Right-to-work and identity checks
  • A criminal-record check at the level the law allows for the role

Training

New cleaners spend their first two weeks paired with a team lead in real homes, working to our checklist. Nobody goes out in a team of two until the lead signs them off, and the lead is who you can message if anything is not right.

The same homes

Teams are kept with the same homes on purpose. It is better for you, because they know the house, and it is better for them, because a regular round is a job rather than a queue. New faces only when someone is on holiday, and we tell you the day before.

Insurance

Our public liability and employer’s insurance cover your home and contents during every visit. If something is broken, we say so, and we replace it.
